First Ever Role Play

Okay, so I decided we definitely needed to break this forum in even if we have so few people. We have to show its active so other people will start joining more. Anyways, we should probably do a vote of what should be the first role play. If anyone has any suggestions just post them here.

The role play I'm going to suggest is a role play I've always wanted to do. It'd be something like a Ghost Hunters mixed with Paranormal Activity. I've never actually seen the movie but I've seen previews and that's good enough. I want to do it like with Paranormal Investigators who search for the usual hauntings and get more than they bargained for . I also want to do it with the famous Stanley Hotel as the setting.

Hm, that sounds neat. Never tried anything like that before. If I understand correctly, you mean a team of ghost hunters is terrorized by a ghost in a creepy house? I HAVE seen Paranormal Activity, and it's pretty creepy. Mostly the exorcism scene, though that wasn't in all the versions...Annnyways, yah that sounds neat. About four different characters are running through my mind at the moment for this xDD Did you want other ideas to go along with it?

Yeah, pretty much a type of role play where one by one the characters are being picked off. It'd be fun because you can create your characters own demise. Either becoming suicidal/homicidal, just disappearing, having an accident, being killed by something, ect. Its really up to your imagination, so you can be as creepy or sadistic as you want. You can even have as many characters as you want. I mean they can either be Paranormal Investigators or hotel imployees or just guests.

Ooooh, this sounds fun! My complete adoration for my characters (all 800 bajillion of them) and my sadistic nature are fighting at the moment >.> Alright, well should probably wait till we have a few more people, but did you have any ideas? For plots, or a character you might want to use?

I was just thinking we could use the history and hauntings from the real Stanley Hotel and see where it goes from there. Just a bunch of faceless hauntings that go after all of our characters. You know like have the hauntings start out small and innocent, then for some reason or another get extremely violent and deadly. Maybe make it to where they can't leave or have a reason for not leaving. I'm going to read up on the history and whatnot of the hotel, but if you want I can give you a link to the episode from Ghost Hunters if you haven't seen it. Ghost Hunters did a live taping of this and had some amazing experiences. A table and chair lifting while someone was sitting at it. A disembodied voice sounding underneath the building as clear as day saying: "Hello?" Even a recording of really creepy laughter and countless encounters by guests and employees. Of hearing children running down the halls and picture frames falling from the walls. You know, good ol' hauntings. I thought the worse one was the story of the homeless lady that froze to death in one of the buildings and the owner swore he heard a woman shrieking in there.

*googles Stanley Hotel* Yah, that seems like it could work xD I'm a skeptic to the max, Agnostic bordering on Atheist and avoid those ghost chaser shows on principle ^^Still, i love it in fiction. What sort of character would you like to use? I'm not sure if I would want to play a ghost hunter or hotel staff...

I am so up for that. I've never really had the chance to do a proper scary rp before, so it would be great fun trying to do one.

Hehehe ok, I think I want to be hotel staff now ^^ Do you have any ideas for how to start it? I really don't, but I think my mind is a little melted at the moment.

I'd most likely be a Paranormal Investigator, but also a few others so I can kill off one but still have more time to kill off more. XD

Sure. I still need to do a little reading on the place I specified so that I can get a general idea of the setting of the hotel. I tried looking for a map of the hotel's various area's but couldn't find one, so it'll be based on what I read and what I've seen from Ghost Hunters. And so I'll try to give you a general idea of the area as well. I think that the Stanley Hotel is a perfect location though for a role play such as this. I'm surprised that its still running even with the evident hauntings, and I wouldn't be surprise if they have a hard time keeping staff. I'm thinking I might play one of the guests as well as a hotel staff and a Paranormal Investigator. I watch a lot of Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State and whatnot.

Here's a little overview of the hauntings:

Many believe the Stanley Hotel is haunted, having reported a number of cases of ghostly activity, primarily in the ballroom. Kitchen staff have reported to have heard a party going on in the ballroom, only to find it empty. People in the lobby have allegedly heard someone playing the ballroom's piano; employees investigating the music supposedly find nobody sitting at the piano. Employees believe that particular ghost is of Freelan O. Stanley's wife, who used to be a piano player. In one guest room, people claim to have seen a man standing over the bed before running into the closet. This same apparition is allegedly responsible for stealing guests' jewellery, watches, and luggage. Others reported to have seen ghosts in their rooms in the middle of the night, simply standing in their room before disappearing.

Room 217
The famous room where Stephen King stayed during his visit to The Stanley Hotel. It is said that King and his wife left the room, only to return to find all of their clothes and belongings folded and put away in the closet. The closet door itself has a habit of opening and closing with no one near it as well.

The Fourth Floor
This floor served as the servant's floor in the hotel's past and also boasts the most reports of paranormal phenomenon. In particular, room 418 seems to be the hotel's hotspot for activity. Many guests have reported hearing children in the hallways and impressions appearing on the bed. In fact, many people have seen or heard children in the hallway of the fourth floor, even when there were no children checked into the hotel.

The Rest of the Hotel
The phenomenon doesn't appear to be isolated to just the above locations. There have been reports from all areas of the hotel, including the ballroom where the piano has been known to start playing by itself. Ghosts of men, women and children have all been reported from various parts of the hotel and even the connecting concert hall, where screams have been heard on occasion, though the hall was supposed to be empty. In addition, the staff have complained that they will clean Room 1302, only to return to find the room disheveled.

There's also some story of a homeless lady freezing to death in one of the buildings and screams being heard from there. And also the sounds of children being heard in the halls even though there would be no children staying. It is said that people sometimes see a red ball bouncing though the halls as if some kids were playing with it. There are stories that the wife of the creator of the hotel likes to sleep between unmarried couples and newlyweds. If she likes you, she'll be real nice but if she doesn't like you then she'll throw things around turn on the alarm and turn on the tv. She's also seen walking through the walls of three rooms, which used to be an entire suite. It was split into three separate rooms later on after her death.

OMG! I found my favorite part of the Ghost Hunters investigation of the Stanley Hotel. Where the Ghost Hunters are in the Employees Passageway going into a tunnel when they hear a female voice say "Hello. Who's there." It says it a few times and then there's heard some creepy laughter. Now this was done on a live taping of Ghost Hunters and sure creeped the hell out of me when I heard it.

Do we have enough information to start? Do we have enough players to start? I'm kinda excited for this now ^^

Actually, the one thing I really want to give you is a map. So if you give me some time, I've been going through pictures and video trying to come up with a basic map of the area. There's actually an old fashioned elevator I never knew they had. They also have a music room, a dining room, a restaurant/bar, a billard room which is surprisingly spacious and seems to be only used for special occasions and then two sets of stair cases. A main one that leads from the lobby and then a spiral staircase which I don't really understand where its located. They also have four floors of rooms and then at the very bottom is that Employee Passageway, I believe. I also think that one half of the building has basic rooms and the other has the more expensive suites. Also, the Music room I believe is where people hear the piano playing by itself and the sound of people talking and partying. There's also little things like the balconies, check in desk, I think a gift shop and some sort of adjacent building that I haven't seen yet. God this sort of feels like homework, but its fine because I have time to kill. XD

Okay, but just so you know sometimes my intros turn out real sucky. Which also means I'm going to spend a whole lot of time on trying to not make it look sucky just to have it turn out sucky.

The Stanley Hotel looked like a picture from a postcard, everything lightly dusted with a small blanket of snow, the Rockey's standing tall and proud in the background and dwarfing the towering pines which grew on either side of the hotel. A small gasp sent a small fog of breath in the chilly winter air. It hadn't been the first time she'd seen the Stanley Hotel in the winter time, but it never ceased to amaze her with its beauty. It was only the first winters snow which had sat heavy in the night but now slowly melting in the morning sun, leaving the roads slick and dangerous.
Maikela Forrester had working at the Stanley Hotel for only three years, and was the few to stay so long even after experiencing the strange goings-on at this place. She knew all the stories and had experienced a few unexplainable things herself, but it had never put her off. She was determined and stubborn, so a few little hauntings wouldn't scare her off. Plus she didn't believe that the ghosts there were evil or mean. Especially the one in room 217, who was supposedly the Mistress of man of which the hotel was named after. She was only ever rude to those who she didn't like, for which she'd try with all her power to drive out.
Maikela had started here as just a hotel maid, cleaning rooms, making beds, replacing bathroom toiletries, and so on. But recently she had been chosen to be the History and Hauntings Tour Guide. Today though she was giving a special tour, another group of Paranormal Investigators had come seeking the truth. The hotel always seemed to attract their kind, which wasn't particularly a bad things considering it brought them business.
Maikela sighed, letting out a breath of foggy air as her face turned red and frostbitten in the snow. She was a woman within her mid-twenties and carried the athletic figure of a woman of her age. Dark brown eyes framed by square glasses and short dark brown hair high-lighted with small strips of lighter brown hair.
She happened to be a fresh drop-out right out of college. She had bled any scholarships dry and hadn't the money saved up to pay for any more school. The one problem she had was her indecision. Now she was single and living on her own in an apartment with a somewhat well paying job.
Opening the door, she was finally glad to be inside where warm fires were lit and the heating was running. The place was already quite active this morning with people checking in and out at the main desk, people eating breakfast at the restaurant or just warming themselves by the fire place on one of the lounge chairs or couches. It was so strange how such a warm and cheery place could ever be considered haunted. Maikela nearly laughed as she thought of the old and decrepit buildings that people usually associated with being haunted and thinking how it was completely opposite here.
Making her way to through a back door, she walked downstairs where there were set up a few lockers for employees to store their possessions while working. It was actually located near the Employees Passageway where few like to be caught at by themselves. She stored her coat, scarf and cap there, never feeling it safe enough to store any valuables. Especially when precious things tended to go Houdini in this hotel. She adorn her sweater with the nametag she was always required to wear and then she was ready to start her day which she was happy was going so well.

((I'm too lazy to do more so I'll introduce any other characters as I go. Also, I found a picture of one of the adjacent buildings. The Concert Hall where the homeless woman supposedly broke into and froze to death. The first picture actually shows it from the sound booth where the disembodied shriek was heard one night. The second picture is the outside of the building.
